the 1st contemporary jewellery touring exhibition from hong kong

10 contemporary jewellers of 5 different nations have decided to push the boundaries and materialistic disciplines inherent in the nature of jewellery. Contemporary jewellery as art; it will be an interactive exhibition between audience and the jewellers with something original, something intimate, something crazy, something mad, something surreal and something unbelievable. The jewellers challenge the conventional creative methodologies that influence jewellery making and art as well as the industry and the public. The exhibition will appeal specifically to local and global jewellers; engaging with people on an acclaim level, in which the exhibition is titled, “WOHOOOH!!!”.

This exhibition, “WOHOOOH!!!” presents a strong linkage and revolutionary mindset between art and the consumer product. The works in the exhibition will certainly take the audience to a different level of contemporary art and design of everyday life; encourage interaction and linkage of people; as well as a rethink of the nature of jewellery. Art and jewellery as a lifestyle, the exhibition is full of energy and passion.

生長在現世的社會裡，生活上總有形形色色的珈瑣、規條、限制，惟有進行藝術創作，才能讓人有一刻的喘息。這一次, 來自五個不同國家的這十位當代首飾製作人，便嘗試打破傳統首飾的性質和物料的界限，逃離現實的種種束縛，進行一場首飾製作人與觀眾間：原始、親密、古怪、瘋狂、超現實而又令人難以置信的互動角力。藉著是次的展覽，務求要讓全球及本地的首飾製作人、藝術人、首飾業界，以致普羅的公眾，也嘆為觀止，所以展覽命名為 - 「WOHOOOH!!!」

「WOHOOOH!!!」展覽所呈獻的，是要表現藝術的革命性思維，與大眾消費品間的緊密相連。藝術與首飾看似兩種不相逕違的生活模式，卻又不可分間地互動互惠。展覽中的作品把慣向性的當代藝術和設計，以不同的形式與層次推向觀眾；藉著展品與觀嘗者之間，產生互動和連繫，透過每件展品讓參與者重新思考首飾的本質。

革バッグの使って残った原材料を使用して、手作りでこのジュエリー。サイズはある限度内ですが、色と形を合わせても独特なデザインも出来上がります。もう捨てたものをもう一回命を吹き込みになったジュエリーは水彩絵の具パレットのようにだるいイメージを飾ってる。

Re-me Project

The Re-me Project is based on recycle materials used in handbags making.
A friend brings a bag of materials to me one day, his family just closing down their handbag factory and family business in China after the global financial and economic crisis. I work with these materials to re-design them, then the Re-me Project was born. The packaging of the Re-me necklace collection is also made by recycle materials, to wrap the necklace as a package and also become a clutch or purse that reminds us what they used to be.

Named Kiss, explanations are unnecessary, the real pair made of white gold become my everyday life jewelry also my love one. Sad Necklace is two drops of tears. Exciting Brooch is the pulse and cardiogram. Annoying Earring is the melody that wraps around the ear with earplugs in a palm shape. Tiredness Ring is flexible to wear. And a broken camera inspired the Carefulness Bracelet. The Happy Choker, twist out the sentence “say cheese, say pizza” ; it is something you’ll say when you’re taking a photograph.

Post-workshop Exhibition of Master Class in Accessories Design at the Hong Kong Design Centre.

I went to Milan a few months ago to take a Master Class in Accessories Design, a short course. Based on my feelings and emotions in Italy, I designed the accessory series. The course required us to add some Chinese elements but I didn’t want to use common Chinese visual elements, so I chose the traditional craftsmanship by using cloth braided straps with copper lines to knot different shapes and graphics. Though it took me months to sew them, and I got calluses all over my fingers, it was worth it to have my first collection done.

I start with some paper popcorn and do the lamination, then play with negative film and stamps... it can be really fun if the graphic element are interesting like extra size of diamonds or a series of stamps... at the end wearing the popcorn necklace just like splashed popcorns on the shirt... haha
